dreamin’ of touring the countryside

1 12 2007

Thanks to Teanuts, I am now officially obsessed about having a bike. But not just any bike, mind you. I want one that folds, so I can use it here in the city and in Pangasinan when I go visit there. That would be so much fun, and practical. Tricycle fare from “bayan” to our barangay costs between P70-100. Ganun kalayo. Bukid kasi. Plus bike-friendly naman sa Marikina, so feasible syang alternative to commuting, and I won’t feel guilty about polluting the environment. Now if only I could find alternate routes to Cubao…

Studio23 UAAP 2007 Cheerdance Videos

19 09 2007

Because I can’t get enough of the win, here are more videos of the UP Pep’s championship routine. These have way better shots than that of the previous post. In fact, I couldn’t help feeling an overwhelming pride after watching these clips, even if I’ve seen part of it live on TV. Cheerleading is hard stuff. They should make it an Olympic sport, like synchronized swimming. I kid you not.

Part 1: An Explosive Start

Part 2: A Strong Finish

let’s go, UP!!!

coming back from a heartbreaking loss to Jordan which knocked them out of contention for the championship (and effectively the 2008 Beijing Olympics), Team Pilipinas proceeded to sweep their next 4 games to top Division II of the FIBA Asia 2007. this cements our rank as #9 in Asian basketball (last year, if i remember it correctly, we finished second to the last in a pool of 16). some say it’s playing for crumbs, but i believe we should pat the boys on the back for not losing heart and fighting for dignity and respect.

one of the best things about this tournament is that it showed we can actually beat China – something we haven’t done in the past 20 years – and we did it twice (once in the preliminary round and again in the Division II finals). even if it’s against China’s Team B, it’s still a great morale booster for everyone. kudos and hopefully we can use these wins to psyche ourselves up when we face China’s Team A in the future.
